Cool colour combinations

Over our 15 years in the industry we’ve seen colour trends come and go.  But there are some classic colour schemes that never go out of style: Black and White (Black Tie), Black and Gold (Hollywood), Soft Pastels or Pink + Lavender (young girl’s birthdays, Christenings), Blues and silvers (male birthday), Multibright (festive fun birthday!).

Pearl black and white with Black/White super agate marble prints incorporated. Very classy!

Pearl White, Pearl Black and Agate in Black and White.

Pearl Gold, Pearl Black and Confetti in Black and Gold.

Fashion Lavender and Standard light pink.

Standard White, Fashion Spring Green, Fashion Robins Egg Blue and Fashion Caribbean Blue.

Fashion multibright.

We probably get a bit too excited playing with colour options any time a client asks for our suggestions as we see so many great combinations!  To us though, we are guided by a few key factors: Theme, Venue colours (so that it’s not going to clash or be too dark), matching any other decor or invitations and your likes (if you MUST have Peach prominent we will work around this palette for you). Once we know these factors we can then use our expertise to guide you into the best match.

Rose Gold has been hot hot hot for the past 3 years and the trend just doesn’t look like it’s going away anytime soon!  The newest addition to our colour range Qualatex Chrome (especially the Gold) has been so popular it’s been sold out 4 times in as many months while we get stock express shipped from the USA to meet the demand.

Often it is about proportion and how the colours are used together. One of our clients LOVES rose gold but as it was for her husband we wanted to make it slightly more masculine but still on trend so added in Midnight blue with the smallest hint of Azure to provide depth and tone.   Or adding in a different element of embellishment to a clean palette to make it pop – eg using all white with gold accents like fringing and metallic Orbz and confetti balloons to really pop. Or laying our arrangements in “block” or Ombre accents.

Our biggest hits of the past year have been our Custom Blends (read more here as there is too much to cover in this blog!) – the prettiest pastels you will ever see, the most fabulous tones of brilliant reds!

And don’t forget about block colours! When everything is all the one colour it can be really effective in the space, especially if it fits in with the theme. Sometimes the simpler the better.
